Silk Originates in Ancient China
Silk fabric was invented in Ancient China and played a great part in their culture and economy for thousands of years. As world trade began, silk expanded to international markets via what is known as the Silk Road. In the beginning, silkworm species Bombyx Mori turns into the mulberry silk moth-which then are cultured to produce smooth, glossy, and pearly white threads. The process of that is called sericulture(or silk production).
Silk is luxurious than other fabrics
Silk has a minuscule percentage of the global textile fiber market. Yet, the actual trading value of silk and silk products is far greater than that of cotton since the unit price for raw silk is roughly twenty times that of raw cotton.
Momme is the standard unit for measuring silk
Momme is the standard unit that's used to measure silk weight and quality. It is also called "mm." One momme equates to about 4.340 grams per square meter. Momme is defined as the weight of 100 yards of silk and 45 inches wide in pounds- about the length of a football field!
Normally, Momme weight ranges from a minimum of 6 momme all the way to a maximum weight of 30 momme. And 19 momme is the ideal weight, offering affordability, great strength, and thickness. The highest grade of silk is 6A
The silk quality is graded A, B, or C, with A being the highest grade. A Grade silk is the highest quality long-strand silk from cocoons that is ivory in color. It is strong and can be unraveled to long lengths instead of breaking. About numbers, they are used to grade the silk further. Grade A silk comes in A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, and 6A, with 6A being the highest. So when you find silk sleepwear made from 6A Grade silk, you can be sure that it is the highest quality on the market. If a silk product detail doesn't point out silk quality by number and letter, it is reasonable to assume that it is made with lower-quality silk. Silk can be washed and ironed.
Thanks to its smooth surface, dirt on silk can easily be removed by washing. As opposed to many people's worries, silk can be washed and ironed.

To keep your silks in the best status, select the washing machine's delicate cycle, wash them with cold water and mild silk detergent. At last, lay your silk flat and allow it to air dry naturally. Avoid direct heat and sunlight. Once dry, iron or steam them on the reverse side at low temperature to restore the silk's luster and softness.
Silk can regulate temperature
Organic proteins in silk can regulate temperature; thus, silk lets you warm and cozy in winter and keeps you comfortably cool in summer during sleeping, making it the perfect temperature-regulating fabric year-round! Research shows the most common and uncomfortable symptoms of menopause are hot flushes in the face and back. So it is advised to sleep in lightweight, breathable silk pajamas to help counteract this.
Silk is hypoallergenic and antimicrobial
Due to its compact structure, natural sericin, and smooth feel, silk is known for its hypoallergenic properties. And it's free of any potentially irritating added chemicals. Thus it's the ideal choice for those with sensitive skin. It's also antimicrobial, so that silk is ideal for infected skin, like people with eczema. It has been found that the triggers of those diseases are microbes that would not stand a chance against silk's compact structure. Silk is a natural and sustainable fabric
Silk is a natural protein fiber produced by silkworms. Most of the world's silk comes from the silkworm Bombyx mori, a species whose diet consists exclusively of mulberry leaves. Once the silkworm has matured, it produces a natural fiber-silk. Thus undyed and unprocessed silk is a completely natural and sustainable fiber!
